Dogs believe they are human. Cats believe they are God.

Colette Chartreux  is a small home based cattery breeding and showing Chartreux in  the CFA Gulf Shore Region 3 of Texas. My goal is to produce cats that

meet the CFA Standard for the Breed and who are also both healthy and happy companions. I only breed a few select litters per year and all of my cats live

in a free roaming environment rather than a caged cattery. Although I breed primarily for show, I do occasionally have kittens and adults available to

pet homes. Please send me an email if you are looking for a Chartreux!

My love affair with the smiling blue French cat started innocently with a neutered pet Chartreux named Backcountry Angus Ashby, who was the love of my life.
He crossed the bridge a few years ago, so Angus' breeder and my friend, Mary suggested that I show my next Chartreux, GC RW Backcountry Amethyst of Colette.  The rest as they say, is history.

I have a love for all felines and will occasionally be working with other breeds, but my first and primary love will always be the regal cat of France. I would like to

thank Mary Rathbun of Backcountry Chartreux for her mentorship and support! Also thanks to Dick and Sheli Irwin of  Quatrepaws

for my two wonderful boys!

Our namesake is the turn of the

 century French feminist/author

  Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette. Colette's

most well known work in the English-

speaking world was the novel "Gigi",

but she was also an avid lover of cats-

particularly Chartreux.
